New Hogan Lake is a reservoir located in Calaveras County, California, USA. It is situated in the Sierra Nevada foothills, near the town of Valley Springs. The lake is formed by the New Hogan Dam, which was built in 1963 by the United States Army Corps of Engineers. The lake covers an area of 4,400 acres and has a capacity of 275,000 acre-feet of water. It is a popular destination for boating, fishing, camping, hiking, and picnicking. The lake is home to a variety of fish species, including bass, catfish, crappie, and trout. The surrounding area is rich in wildlife, with deer, turkeys, and other animals commonly spotted near the lake. The New Hogan Lake Recreation Area offers camping sites, picnic areas and hiking trails.
